Explore a little vintage Brini through this downloadable video series featuring footage from the original New York cable access show.
Fri, 13 March 2009 ![]() Hi people! Brini here and this week we have a delicious stew for you…Hungarian goulash! As stews go, it’s very simple – very easy. Here’s how: You’ll need: 2 lbs stew beef cut into 1” cubes 3 Tbs. flour 2 Tbs. vegetable oil ¼ cup chopped onion 1 bay leaf 2 whole cloves 1 ½ tsp. salt ¼ tsp pepper 1 Tbs. paprika 1½ cups beef stock Begin by coating the beef with the flour. Heat the oil in a sauce pan or electric skillet over medium heat and add the beef. Cook until brown on all sides, then add the onion. Stir for about 5 minutes until the onion is tender, then add the remaining ingredients. Blend well while bringing to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to simmer. Let cook for 2 to 2½ hours or until fork tender. Serve over buttered noodles or boiled potatoes. This dish is just great for the last chilly days of winter. Perfect for warming up after a blustery afternoon outdoors! I’m so glad What’s Up Doc was such a success! It’s one of my favorite films, and it’s nice to know that so many of you enjoyed it too. The next film we’ll be discussing in our NetFlix series is completely different! We’ll be talking about Rear Window – Hitchcock’s delightfully ghoulish (not goulash) classic featuring Jimmy Stewart and a beguiling Grace Kelly. If you don’t have it you can always find it on NetFlix, and by joining through my site you help support this show! That’s all for this week! Let me know what you think about Rear Window…

Sorpresa Della Torta Del Granchio
(Crab Cake Surprise)
Ingredients: Focaccia bread, Toasted Sesame Oil, Trader Joe's Green Olive Tapenade, Crumbled Feta with Mediterranean Herbs, Trader Giotto's Quattro Formaggio, Trader Giotto's Rustico Pomodoro Pasta Sauce, Pancetta (cubed), Byrd Premium Crab Meat, Olive Oil Cooking Spray, White Toasted Sesame Seeds
Preparation Instructions:
1. Cut '6 by '12 Focaccia bread loaf in two length wise, then each half into four 3 inch by 3 inch squares, equaling a total of 8 squares. Using a minimum sized 15" by 11" cookie sheet and after placing on an equal sized sheet of aluminum foil, spray foil sheet with Olive Oil Cooking Spray. Make sure each square is a minimum of 1 inch apart on the cookie sheet. Next use a small cooking brush on each square and apply a little bit of Toasted Sesame Oil.
2. Next place 2 tablespoons of Trader Giotto's Rustico Pomodoro Pasta Sauce on top of each square. On top of that, place 1 tablespoon of Trader Joe's Green Olive Tapenade on each square as well. After that, put on top of each square 1 1/2 tablespoons of Crumbled Feta with Mediterranean Herbs and then 1 tablespoon worth of cubed Pancetta.
3. The next topping for each square is a 1/4th cup of Trader Giotto's Quattro Formaggio, and then a 1/4th cup of Byrd Premium Crab Meat
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 Fahrenheit and place cookie sheet in center rack for 30 minutes. 12 minutes prior to coming out of oven top each square with another 1/4th cup of Trader Giotto's Quattro Formaggio and then sprinkle White Toasted Sesame Seeds on top of each square so they will stick to top layer of cheese as it cooks in oven.
Once done allow approximately 5 minutes to cool and then serve squares with favorite wine or beverage and enjoy!
As to Rear Window, NO lady on the screen looked more sensational than Grace Kelly in that film, she looked amazing! I always felt sorry for the lady in the ground apt. who contemplated killing herself due to being so lonely :( but at least she had a happy ending!

Another good choice in movies Brini!
I think one of the special features on the dvd that I own, talks about how the movie set was created. That'll be interesting.
Next to Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly is one of the most beautiful actresses ever. Hitchcock had her in 3 of his films. My
favorite is "To Catch A Thief" With all the horror and gore movies that are being made now days, I always turn to Hitchcock any day for a good scare. I always like looking for Hitchcock's cameo appearances in each of his movies.
